Client stories

Evidence from real advisory work

These notes describe specific consultations — what was unclear going in, what we worked on, and what remained imperfect. Names are shortened at clients’ request.

“I arrived convinced I needed a Head of Finance title within a year. The session made me admit that my German reporting vocabulary was still thin for that level. We rebuilt the plan around a strong controller role first. The follow-up note was blunt in places — which I needed.”

Marta K. — Senior Controller, manufacturing (Oberfranken) Finance Career Advisory Session

“My CV read well in Austria and poorly here. The annotations on date format, Ausbildung placement, and how I described SAP FI exposure saved me from another round of silent rejections. Turnaround was slightly slower than promised during a holiday week, but the feedback was specific.”

Daniel R. — Accountant relocating from Vienna German Market Application Review

“The mock Fachinterview caught that I explained variance analysis as if reading a textbook. We practised answering from a real Kostenstelle I had owned. I still stumbled once in the real interview, but I recovered using the structure we rehearsed.”

Sophie L. — Junior Financial Analyst Controlling Interview Preparation

From ledger ownership to monthly forecast cycles

Thomas W. · Career Transition Mapping

Thomas came to us after a decade closing monthly books for a mid-sized industrial firm near Coburg. He was competent, trusted, and stuck. Recruiters kept sending him similar Debitoren/Kreditoren roles.

Over two sessions we listed what he already did that controlling teams value: explaining deviations to plant managers, building simple rolling forecasts in Excel, and challenging purchase requests against budget. We also listed gaps: limited exposure to contribution-margin thinking, and German presentation habits that still sounded like bookkeeping updates.

The written map set a six-month sequence: volunteer for the plant’s forecast pack, enrol in a short Controlling refresher through a regional adult-education provider, and only then apply for Junior Controller openings in Freistaat Bayern. He accepted a planning assistant role at a slightly lower base, with a written path into controlling after probation. Nine months later he owns the monthly Abweichungsbericht for two Kostenstellen.
